As recently seen on CBS-LA, LAIT911 is seeking disaster response volunteers for our Hansen Dam Public Safety Project aimed at keeping the people and the land within the Hansen Dam Trail Area safe.

Hansen Dam is one of the most wildfire prone parks within Los Angeles and the location of multiple LAFD Hiker Rescue responses each year.

Our trained response team is aiming to both lessen the amount of emergency response and the overall severity of the incidents that occur within the park working alongside our LA City Park Rangers and Fire Department. Our members become trained in medical response (BLS/First Aid), Fire/Arson Watch, search & rescue, and overall public/community relations.

As a volunteer, you will patrol Hansen Dam in teams of two, focused on looking for signs of fire, assisting visitors suffering from heat-related illnesses and acting as an overall friendly public safety presence within a large community park.

This position requires regular deployment on high heat-risk or burn-risk days, typically on weekends and holidays. Shifts typically last five to seven hours, and lunch is usually provided.

If you’re looking to make an impact on your community, or gain valuable medical/fire service skills, apply at the link below. Applications will close shortly.
