As a UI/UX Designer at LAIT911, you will have the opportunity to design intuitive, user-friendly interfaces for disaster-related software, websites, and applications. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing the user experience for individuals seeking critical information and resources during emergencies, ultimately supporting LAIT911’s mission of community resilience and disaster preparedness.

Key Responsibilities

User Interface Design:

  • Design Development: Create visually appealing and functional user interfaces for LAIT911’s digital platforms, including software, websites, and mobile applications.
  • Prototyping: Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to effectively communicate design ideas and interactions.
  • Visual Consistency: Ensure visual consistency across all digital products by adhering to established design guidelines and best practices.

User Experience Research:

  • User Research: Conduct user research, including surveys, interviews, and usability testing, to understand user needs and behaviors.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze research data to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement in the user experience.
  • Iterative Design: Implement iterative design processes based on user feedback and testing results to continuously enhance the user experience.

Collaboration:

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with developers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of design and functionality.
  • Feedback Integration: Actively participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from team members and users to refine designs.

Expectations:

  • Creativity: Possess a strong creative vision and the ability to translate complex concepts into user-friendly designs.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, or similar software.
  • Attention to Detail: Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in design deliverables.
  • UserCentric Approach: Prioritize user needs and advocate for the best user experience in all design decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Prior experience in UI/UX design, preferably with a focus on software, websites, and mobile applications.
  • Skills: Strong skills in visual design, interaction design, and user research. Familiarity with front-end development is a plus.
  • Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing your design work and process, highlighting your ability to create effective and engaging user experiences.
  • Passion: A genuine passion for disaster prevention, community safety, and public service.

LAIT911 is a Los Angeles-based disaster service non-profit founded in 2021. Specializing in wildfire and flood prevention, the organization has a team of trained volunteers who monitor incidents, provide accurate reports, and assist during emergencies. LAIT911 collaborates closely with local fire, police, and park authorities to ensure public safety and rapid response to emergencies, enhancing community resilience and preparedness.
